Discover GPS Day - April 10, 2025

This event is designed specifically for students who have received fellowship offers at GPS and will provide dedicated advising sessions for those awards.

Join us to celebrate your achievement and explore the opportunities awaiting you at UC San Diego! This will be a valuable opportunity to deepen your understanding of our programs, establish early connections, and address any questions you have.

We also offer travel grants to offset your expenses for airfare, train tickets, fuel and lodging in San Diego!*

Information below updated: March 7 2025

Schedule of Events:

Wednesday, April 9 | 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. | GPS Happy Hour

We will begin with a hosted happy hour at Ballast Point in the celebrated Little Italy neighborhood of San Diego, which is just minutes from the San Diego International Airport. You will mingle with current GPS students and alumni while meeting your future classmates. The area provides a great backdrop to enjoy the San Diego Bay and good proximity to downtown and mid-city activities.

For travel to and from the event, attendees are encouraged to use public transportation, ride-sharing services, or a designated driver.

Thursday, April 10 | 9 a.m. - 4:30p.m. | Discover GPS Day

Start with some breakfast at GPS and a small group meeting with Dr. Caroline Freund, Dean of GPS. We’ll follow with a dedicated presentation on the GPS curriculum (with a special focus on the acclaimed analytical core training in methods and economics) and end the morning by meeting with the career and professional development team. Lunch will be hosted by GPS faculty, career consultants and academic advisors. The afternoon will provide students options to visit classes and learn more about academic positions at UC San Diego.

Please note participants will need to arrange their own transportation and lodging. Travel between Little Italy and the UC San Diego campus is a short commute on the MTS Blue Line Trolley with departures throughout the morning from the Little Italy Station. GPS will provide a morning shuttle from the UCSD Central Campus Station to GPS on April 10 between 7:30 am - 9:30 am.
