Román David Zárate is currently an assistant professor at the UC San Diego School of Global Policy and Strategy. He is an economist whose research sits at the intersection of international trade, urban economics, and development economics, and his work focuses on how different forms of market integration shape aggregate welfare and productivity in developing countries. Before joining UC San Diego, he worked as a research economist in the Development Research Group at the World Bank. He holds a Ph.D. in economics from the University of California, Berkeley.
